Massimo Benini and Marco Passerini represented CSCS at the Red Hat Forum Switzerland 2017, which took place on September 12 in Zurich. We caught up with the software and system engineers to talk about their experience:
“After several months of collaboration with Red Hat for the provisioning of CSCS's first cloud platform, POLLUX, we were invited to talk at the annual Red Hat Forum in Zurich. This year the title of the conference was "Drive Innovation in Your Digital World" and the main topics of interest were containers, microservices, cloud and digital transformation. The conference drew speakers and participants from large Swiss and international companies including SBB, SIX Group, Siemens, Accenture and Microsoft.
We were invited to share with the RH Community the story from the beginning of our engagement with RH to the release of the final product, a cloud-based IaaS. In our presentation “CSCS Openstack federation with Red Hat Single Sign-On & Ceph Storage and External Swift” we explained our requirements, our challenges, and how we came to a solution that we have now adopted at CSCS (one of the first adopters).
Overall, we were very satisfied with the presentation. The stage was huge and there were a lot of people, but we were able to manage the audience by making use of some of the techniques we’d learned at the 'powerful presentation skills' course at CSCS. We fielded a number of questions during the talk, and people stopped by afterwards for further insights on the content of the presentation. It was also very useful from a networking point of view."
