  • How to reach Zurich

Zurich is located in the center of Switzerland and at the heart of Europe. With its Main Railway Station, Zurich also has the largest railway station in Switzerland  – with direct connections to other Swiss cities and the surrounding countries.

    Airplane

You can reach Zurich by flying into Zurich-Kloten (10km / 6 miles from the city center) and from there you may travel by train to Zurich main railway station (“Zurich Hauptbahnhof”). Zurich airport is just 10km (6 miles) from the city center. Trains run daily from «Zurich Airport» to «Zurich Main Station» every 5–10 minutes between around 5.00am and 0.30am. On www.sbb.ch you will find information for your journey by public transportation.

    Rail

Zurich Main Station is the largest and one of the oldest railway stations in Switzerland. With over 2,900 trains per day, it’s also one of the busiest railway stations in the world. The station is a major hub and connects Zurich with Paris, Milan, Hamburg, Munchen, Vienna, Budapest and other cities in Europe.

On www.sbb.ch you will find a timetable and all related information for your journey by public transportation to, in and around Zurich (Swiss national rail – SBB) and local busses / trams. The Zurich Main Station (“Zurich Hauptbahnhof”) is located right at the heart of town and hosts the Tourist Service of Zurich Tourism.

    Car

Travelling to Zurich by car is easy thanks to a well-developed network of roads. However, please be aware that the parking spaces in the city are limited and very expensive.

The speed limit on Swiss motorways is 120km/h, and that of urban motorways between 60 and 100 km/h. There is a toll to pay (CHF 40) for the use of most motorways. The motorway Vignette is available for purchase at post offices, petrol stations and TCS offices (Touring Club Switzerland). Route planner.
